Unlike
other knurling systems, a lathe is not necessary to produce excellent
results with the Wade Hand Knurling Tool.
The
tool may be revolved around the work as
shown in
Fig. 1 or the work held in a lathe as illustrated
in Fig. 2.
For
Diamond pattern knurling the 2 knurls in the head should be left hand
and the one in the plunger, right hand.
A
single 3/16" band of knurling is produced when the line on the
plunger lines up with index mark B. For wider knurls the tool is made
to travwel along the work as it revolves. Do this by loosening set screw
A and trun the plunger approximately the width of the index line i the
direction you wish to travel and retighten the set screw.
