SMALL DIAMETER ATTACHMENT

Replace the two knurls in the anvil with the small diameter knurling head as shown in Fig. 4. If a diamond pattern is to be produced, usea left hand knurl in the plunger and a right hand in the anvil. The line on the plunger should line up with the line on the frame. The finer pitch knurls are best suited for this work.

The best knurl is produced when the pitch circumgerence is divided into an exact number of teeth. However good quality knurls can be produced without regard to diameter in most cases.

Feed the knurls into the work quickly to full depth to avoid double knurling or improper tracking. If steel splinters appear, the feed is too deep.

  • Slow spindle speeds produce the best knurl.
  • Lubricate knurl pins with machine oil.
  • Lubricate work on steel.
  • All wade Knurls are 1/2" O.D. with a 3/16" face width, a 3/16" hole and a 78 degree included angle tooth form.
